In-home after school care is a key contributor to your child's educational and personal development

Home is where a child feels most comfortable and secure. Home should also be a constructive learning environment.

There was a time when a child walked or cycled home from school to be greeted by a waiting parent. Until dinner preparation, the parent would spend time getting involved in various activities with the child including encouragement and help with homework.

That was then. This is now.

Leaders in Home After School Care, Education and Learning

Our in-home after school carers - we call them Bluepointers - are in no way parent substitutes. But they will be there for your child or children as someone who will win their trust and with whom a child can feel at ease. If necessary a Bluepointer can be a shoulder to cry on, and a giver of reassurance and comfort. The well-being of the child is paramount to them.

Depending on arrangements Bluepointers can be waiting at the school gate or at home. They'll happily prepare an afternoon tea snack and carry out such duties as taking their charges to dental appointments, sports practice or the library.

But this is secondary to their role of helping the child to find a balance between play or relaxation, and getting on with homework. For younger children Bluepointers know how to make homework stimulating and fun. Older children can be encouraged to learn good study routines and to develop ways of taking responsibility for their own learning.

Our Bluepointers are chosen carefully. They enjoy working with children and share our passion for the benefits of education. Some come from an educational background, while others have years of experience bringing up children of their own. Some Bluepointers are currently taking tertiary courses preparing them for educational and other relevant careers. All are trained in the values and methods of Bluepoint in-home after school care.
